Pixel Moderns Pieces goes "Green"

Pixel Modern Pieces heads in a greener direction.

With the launch of its first green organic bedding collection, Pixel finds itself blending green ideals with contemporary infant products. The husband and wife team, Chris and Shannon Svensrud, have always created products that meld good design with high value and quality. They have always produced in the USA. Now the new greener direction of Pixel provides them with another way to match their core values with their company, by creating a positive impact on the environment and the life around them.

Currently 25% percent of the worlds pesticides are used for the production of conventional cotton. In other words to grow one pound of cotton it takes a third pound of toxic chemicals. It takes almost two pounds of chemicals to produce a four piece crib bedding set! These chemicals are more toxic and closer to home than you may think. In
our home state of California, five of the top nine pesticides used on cotton are classified as cancer-causing chemicals by the EPA (cyanazine, dicofol, naled, propargite and trifluralin). United States is the second largest conventional cotton producer and the largest exporter in the world. There are no health risks posed by organic farming!

In the store, you may pay a little more for Organic products. However, the overall cost is considerably less. By supporting the organic cotton farmer, you have chosen a product that is not subsidized by taxes, relying heavily on big oil, or pose serious health risks to the farmers and their neighboring community. Instead, organic cotton is a system fueled entirely by the life giving sun. By promoting a sustainable system of life, we are also eliminating an enormous amount of chemicals put into the ground, groundwater, and the air that ultimately lead to harmful effects on human life. For us, the cost of harming human life is not measurable and not acceptable.

Every choice big or small is still a choice. Choosing organic or recycled isnt always the easiest or most cost effective route. Yet, doing the right thing isnt always the easiest thing either. Because Pixel Organics is a family business our commitment is to our values and people around us not just a single bottom line. The Pixel family feels comfortable knowing that the faces behind our product are being treated in a fair and ethical manner.

Pixel has adopted the idea of the "triple bottom line" economy: balancing financial sustainability, social justice, and environmental restoration. Pixel is teaching our customers the way to promote a better future. After all happy products are made by happy people.

By marrying good design with good social decisions, going green doesnt need to be a sacrifice or cause you to decorate your house in browns and tans. Pixel Organics is a green and modern with a distinct sense of color and print. Our fabric prints feature playful motifs and our products are designed specifically for kids. Pixel is introducing three new collections in March featuring 100 percent organic cotton, 100 percent sustainable materials, and 100 percent domestic production. Our three new organic print collections are pushing the envelope for traditional organic concepts and so is the Pixel mantra . . .
